Elaine Nguyen: Founder of Little Speech Gems

Elaine: Elaine holds the Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a licensed Speech Language Pathologist in the state of California. She completed her Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology at Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR in 2015. She has experience in a variety of pediatric settings that include Seattle Children’s Hospital Main Campus and Seattle Children’s Autism Center, private practices, home therapy, and elementary schools. She has treated clients of all ages and has experience working with children with Autism, Intellectual Disability, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, and rare genetic disorders. She has considerable experience in working with challenging behaviors with her background in ABA therapy. Her expertise includes working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (both high functioning and non-verbal communicators) and assessment and treatment of language disorders, articulation disorders, phonological disorders, social pragmatic-language disorders, alternative communication methods, and fluency. Elaine is also looking forward to beginning her Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) training program through Children’s Hospital of LA this coming Fall 2017.

And for the fun stuff… Elaine is a foodie and is obsessed with doughnuts (so much that she had a whole dedicated doughnut wall at her wedding), originally from the Pacific Northwest, and happily married and enjoying Los Angeles!

Ali: Ali feels fortunate to have the opportunity to impact the lives of those with communication difficulties. Ali has 4 years’ experience in a variety of pediatric settings including Children’s Hospitals, private practices, and the school settings. She has worked both domestically and internationally. International outreach includes both working Uganda and the Philippines at outpatient hospitals with both pediatrics and adult clients. She received her Master’s in 2013 from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ. She is certified member of American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed by the state of California and New Jersey in the Speech Language Pathology. Additionally, she received her Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification from Pennsylvania State University in 2012. She received her Autism Specialist certification from Pennsylvania State University in 2014. Ali incorporates principles of behavior management into her speech and language sessions. In addition, Ali is Clinical Level 1A Social Thinking Practitioner. Social Thinking is a pragmatic language approach. Finally, Ali is enrolled in an E.D.D. program at California State University Los Angeles to be completed by 2019. Her research interests include the social communication profiles of individuals with High Functioning Autism. Ali’s areas of expertise include evaluation and treatment of individuals of articulation/phonology disorders, social skills, expressive/receptive language disorders, fluency disorders, and Autism Spectrum Disorders.

And for the fun stuff… Ali loves elephants, has a sincere addiction to coconut-iced coffee, originally from the East Coast, and loves the beach but doesn’t get there enough.
